Step Up for Smart Works 2026
Smart Works is a UK charity that dresses and coaches unemployed women for their job interview. They give women the confidence they need to unlock their potential, secure employment and transform their lives.
In the last year, 68% of clients who accessed Smart Works' support went on to secure employment.
At Smart Works Greater Manchester Step Up for Smart Works will help support women across the north-west who are preparing for interviews and working to rebuild their confidence after periods of unemployment. Last year, we supported 1,120 unemployed women through our employment services.
Between the 1st and 10th of May, I will be Stepping Up for Smart Works. Every step helps fund confidence, clothing and coaching for women facing the greatest barriers to work. I would appreciate anything you are able to give to this important charity.

Day # 5 - Bury and Bolton
Tuesday 5th May Rufus and I were off again… 🎯 fifth day it was a “double” with Bury at lunchtime along the canal at Radcliffe then a few miles down the road to the gorgeous Moses Gate Country Park in Bolton. Thank you to Harley from Smart Works Greater Manchester for keeping me company during our walk in the beautiful countryside where you live in Bury.
Day # 3 - Trafford
Monday 4th May Rufus and I were off again… 🎯 third day it’s Trafford with loops around Sale Water Park.
Day # 2 - Manchester
Monday 4th May Rufus and I are off again … for the next 10 days I’m Stepping for Smart Works in support of the amazing @smartworksgm with @leveralison and Victoria Cronquist … 🎯second day it’s Manchester (yes we have loads of countryside on our doorstep) kicking off at The Didsbury dodging the Park Runners along the Mersey to Fletcher Moss then looping around again. I’m doing 10 days x 10k steps x 10 GM Borough’s to raise money and awareness to support unemployed women get the skills and confidence they need to succeed in getting a job. Share

Monday 4th May Rufus and I walked today with colleagues @helen.spence.5015 and Cara … 7 more days of Stepping for Smart Works in support of the amazing @smartworksgm… 🎯third day in Rochdale with an 8am start to avoid the crowds and 11,411 steps. I’m doing 10 days x 10k steps x 10 GM Borough’s to raise money and awareness to support unemployed women get the skills and confidence they need to succeed in getting a job. Share
