Step Up for Smart Works 2026

Smart Works is a UK charity that dresses and coaches unemployed women for their job interview. They give women the confidence they need to unlock their potential, secure employment and transform their lives.

In the last year, 68% of clients who accessed Smart Works' support went on to secure employment.

At Smart Works North East Step Up for Smart Works will help support women across the region who are preparing for interviews and working to rebuild their confidence after periods of unemployment. Last year, the centre supported over 700 women into work.

Between the 1st and 10th of May, I will be Stepping Up for Smart Works. Every step helps fund confidence, clothing and coaching for women facing the greatest barriers to work. I would appreciate anything you are able to give to this important charity.

Wow what a challenge this has been! 2 days left to go and I have done more steps these last 10 days than I did last month! Thank you all so much for your support and donations. I think it’s so meaningful that women have the skills and tools they need to get into work if that is something they want to do.

Hi!

My name is Chloe, and I’m a Store Manager for EE Retail. As a young woman in a leadership role, I’m passionate about supporting women—particularly those facing unemployment—and helping to break down the stigma that still exists for women in the workplace.

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many inspiring women, and it’s something that continues to motivate me every day. I truly believe every woman should feel empowered to pursue her dream career, achieve independence, and succeed on her own terms.

On average I usually do around 7000 steps per day, so by going for 15,000 I’ll be doubling my steps which will for sure be a challenge! I’m grateful for any support, thanks so much!
